Craving some Tibetan food but don't know your sha momos from your bedhai? New restaurant and bar Shimbu has brought a colourful collection of traditional and modern Tibetan dishes to Brunswick.

Sha momos are handmade beef dumplings, bedhai is a mild coconut milk chicken curry.

You can also try spicy pork belly soft tacos served on roti bread instead of a tortilla, crisp soft-shell crab stuffed into bao buns, or the crunch and punch of Shimbu's house-made fried chicken.

The drinks list is broad, with cocktails, local and international craft beers, local wines, smoothies and milkshakes.

The room is welcoming and contemporary – fitting neatly into the inner-northern Brunswick scene. Black subway-tiled walls serve as a backdrop to brightly painted Tibetan masks, paintings and ornaments, greenery and industrial lightshades.

Open Tue-Sun from 5pm.
