Melbourne Zoo is celebrating the cherry-blossom season with an inaugural lunch in its Japanese garden. Chef Dianne Kerry, from Liberty Catering Concepts, has created a menu built around sake and Japanese-inspired dishes; think cherry-blossom panna cotta.

The zoo's Japanese garden expert, horticulturist Brendan Curtis, will talk about the blossom and the garden while Andre Bishop, of Kumo Izakaya in Brunswick, will take guests through the various kinds of sake they'll be served.

The September 22 lunch is $90 a person. For bookings, email functions@libertycatering.com.au
