Gladioli's Matt Dempsey has planted a new bulb, with Tulip restaurant and bar planned to bloom on the site of Pakington Village's Cafe Botticelli in Geelong West in mid-October.

The new project is a joint venture with Graham Jefferies (formerly of Pettavel and Wildflower), and the menu focus will be on casual share dishes. "The design and fit-out are being done by Adam Kane Architects in Prahran and for a point of difference our wine list of about 150 vintages will be exclusively Victorian,'' Dempsey says.

''We plan to open for lunch Monday to Friday, and for dinner from 6pm till late seven days.''
