Question

Hi, can you please recommend a good Yum Cha in or close to Melbourne CBD? When in Melbourne I stay usually in the Fitzroy area & love the revamp of Gertrude St, this weekend my partner & I decided we would try some good old Chinese food , so Yum Cha it is.

Thanks
Mez Anne, Albury NSW

Dear Mez Anne,

Ah yum cha, truly one of the great meals. Try these:

Red Emperor
Sporting a recent revamp, new digs, but still with river views. Expect good quality and trolley service. Where: Shop M10, level 2, Southgate, Southbank. Phone: (03) 9699 4170. redemperor.com.au

Spice Temple
A darkly handsome, flash space with a focus on regional Chinese specialities and with excellent yum cha. Riverside, Crown Complex, Southbank. Phone: (03) 8679 1888. spicetemplemelbourne.com

Shark Fin Inn
If you're after a boisterous, cheap and cheerful vibe, this long-time Canto den delivers straight-up offerings and trolley service. Where: 50 Little Bourke Street, Chinatown. Phone: (03) 9662 2681. sharkfin.com.au
