Two years after it was closed by the fire that destroyed next-door restaurant Flint Dining Room, the opening night of the Parlour Wine Room will be held on Wednesday, November 6.

It’s a ticketed event, so you can join the party (6pm-10pm, $150, plus $9.65 booking fee, open for general trade after 10pm). It’s a much-anticipated opening, with the old Parlour a favourite for grown-up drinking, with a great wine list, smart tapas menu and louche surrounds.

Its closure was a big loss to the city, but it’s a surprise to see so many of the old team back at the new Parlour. Brad Warton, the first chef there, is back to head the kitchen, and now news that Peter Bell who has been head of food and beverage for the Realm precinct, is back as sommelier.

Bell has brought excellent energy to the Realm, including Malamay and the Burbury rooftop, with big-ticket events like the Nicolas Poelaert Brooks dinner (October 30, $185), and cool home-grown initiatives like the rooftop beehives. He’ll be a loss to the Realm but an asset to the Parlour.
