Alberts Tavern

13/20

With an emphasis on standing in a modest dining area swamped by a giant screen and an equally modest menu featuring regulars such as steak, fish, burgers and pasta, you wonder whether the food at Alberts will be an afterthought. We are quickly reassured when the grazing plate of roasted mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, marinated feta and pesto with toasted Turkish bread arrives. It's good, as are the mains that follow - simple food, done well. The Corner bar is a modern, cosy nook for after-work drinks. A good choice of beers, wines and ciders reinforces the idea: simple but well done.
