French$$

Allure's offerings are everything French food is famed for; rich, decadent and a little bit fancy. The decor is smart and modern, the service mostly knowledgeable and charming. There is no beach view but you'll probably have your eyes closed anyway, savouring the love and skill that comes through in every bite. A sigh-inducing entree of tender escargot are served out of their shell with a light pastry lid - perfect for mopping up the garlicky butter, while a trio of croquettes filled with shredded slow-cooked oxtail on a silky cauliflower puree is a wonderful textural double act of crunchy and creamy. Duck with black cherries takes 14 hours to prepare, and it shows - the sauce is sticky and bright, the duck meltingly tender, its flavour intensified by the cooking technique. Lobster thermidor comes whole, with the sweet chunks of meat dressed just-so in a creamy Dijon sauce. If you can handle any more indulgence, a mousse-filled chocolate cone with house-churned cherry ice-cream will not disappoint.
