Banging dance clubs are more Sydney's scene than Melbourne's but Alumbra can give the harbour city a run for its money. This huge, glitzy space regularly hosts DJs like Carl Cox, Bob Sinclar and Dimitri from Paris on its decks. A true hybrid venue, it hosts functions and a long-running soul night on Sundays. Two-for-one drink specials happen on Fridays while Saturday is club night, when the dance floor heaves and you can't help but wonder if the giant Buddha approves of what he sees. The bar has a creative cocktail list, imported beers on tap and a good choice of wines. Dress sharp if you want to make it past the door staff.
