Italian$$

When the sole suggestion of the Italian tricolour is shelves bearing stripes of white, green and red bottles (mineral water and that primo aperitivo, Campari), it's clear this isn't the Norton Street eatery of yore. All dark wood and low golden lighting, Aperitivo is chic and inviting, with a menu that focuses on share-plates and wood-fired pizza, eschewing boundary-pushing for classic combinations with the occasional kick. Zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta and smoky provolone are fried quickly in a crunchy batter, retaining the freshness of the vegetable, while butterflied sardines on crisp toast contrast beautifully with sweet, vinegary red onion. There are a few heartier main courses on offer, such as a pink-centred lamb backstrap with salsa verde and roasted tomato, but it's the wood-fired pizza that's a standout; go for the truffled sausage with porcini and bitter radicchio. Finish with a sharp limoncello tart tempered with a scoop of white chocolate ice-cream.
