Artisan Focacceria

Italian

In spite of the name, this sunny little cafe on the Liverpool Street hill doesn't bake its own bread, instead buying it in from the excellent Fuel Bakery. But bread is still the staple; the sourdough panino, ciabatta or multigrain sandwiching breakfasts of poached eggs or lunches of salmon gravlax and chicken schnitzel. The kitchen turns out generous pasta dishes of multitudinous ingredients, and both the home-made gnocchi and the spiced lamb burger with beer-battered fries are local faves. Di Lorenzo coffee has good body and there's an array of cakey things to help you linger longer at a street-side table if it's a nice sunny day.
