Ashin

Japanese$$

Ashin adds poise to Campsie’s otherwise bustling food gem-lined main strip. The dark wood floors, glowing wicker lanterns and serene service make for a calming experience. Sit up by the sushi train, or choose a table if your focus is on the extensive menu’s noodles, soups, katsu, tempura and beautiful platters of sushi and sashimi, the latter perfect with chilli-dotted balsamic vinegar. Yaki gyoza - fried dumplings stuffed with pork - are chubby delights. House special soft-shell crab sushi with cream cheese, strawberries, avocado and flying fish egg is worth a splurge. End with a luscious pudding, or dollops of green tea and black-bean ice-cream.
