Astor is all about little things done well. There are no bells and whistles, just beautifully smooth Campos coffee and no-fuss brekkie fare. When the weather's kind, grab any of the several faux-marble tables out front, although the wide glass frontage - a portion of the old Art Deco Valhalla theatre - also means there's plenty of ambient light indoors. Order a ristretto or maybe a Chinese white tea, then tuck into the popular haloumi stack with sweet-roasted tomato halves, fresh spinach, two soft poached eggs and pesto-smeared toast. Check the specials board for piled-high salads such as trout and asparagus or maybe eggs kayana: Greek-style scrambled eggs with tomato and feta or haloumi.
