Atom Thai

Thai$$

Thai food on King Street can be a ho-hum pad Thai-athon, but Atom overhauls the stereotype with an exciting, extensive menu running from barramundi red curry to crab spring rolls on betel leaf with sour-spicy jam. There’s smooth, creamy stir-fried eggplant with tofu; salty beans and sweet basil are a perfect match. Ask for extra chilli if need be. The staff are smiling and helpful, happy to accommodate dietary restrictions (there’s a whole menu for gluten-free diners). The duck larb, with its smoky ground roasted rice, coriander and mint, is a kick of fresh flavours. There’s pad Thai too, but you’ll have other culinary distractions.
