'Catch of the day' here might be 'Guatemala la perla', a single-origin bean sourced from the grower and house-roasted. The Synesso machine cranks hard all day and there's syphon, pour-over and French press, and quality teas. The space itself, artfully industrial -with distressed brick and exposed everything, is a vast old auction house with lots of different 'zones'. Brunch offerings include Elvis French toast, with sticky banana and rum puree and creamed peanut butter sandwiched in brioche and pan-fried, and salmon pastrami with a soft egg on a cracking potato fishcake. It's too cool for some but there's real warmth at this hub's core.
