Vegetarian/Vegan
A Glebe institution, this bohemian cafe has been serving up cheap, hearty vego food for nigh on three decades. The kitchen offers a few flashes of innovation: a breakfast dish of puff pastry and sesame seed triangles with spinach and feta or a Mediterranean artichoke braise as a blackboard special. Still, most of the menu seems to be aimed at the student stomach: nachos, lasagne, sandwiches, soups. Real treats lie in the sweet options, from the buttery rhubarb crumble to the enticing gelato bar. The service can be patchy (a friendly welcome segueing into a long wait for food) but there's no denying the eclectic allure of the place.
