Students, suits and theatre-going sleuths have tracked down this food court homage to classics from southern and north-eastern Thailand. The unassuming yet energetic space is littered with orange stools and dark brown tables where staff ensure guests are seated and satisfied before they can say 'pad see ew'. Egg noodles are fried, tossed with prawns, fish and squid and then swamped in a subtle-yet-scrummy Thai-style gravy. Crisp twice-cooked pork belly is stir-fried with Chinese broccoli, chilli and garlic, while the Hainanese steamed chicken shows a subtler side to the cuisine with its mandatory broth, steamed garlic rice and a chilli-and-sweet-soy sauce for balance. No wonder they're so busy.
