Outside it may be 2012, but beyond Baranows Lounge's double glass doors, it's another era. Plantation-style ceiling fans waft cigar smoke around the room, dark leather sofas face a wall of mirrors that in turn reflect stained glass windows and potted palms, and the drinks list, handed over by an immaculate bartender, is the size of a phone book. Cocktails stick with the classics, done to your taste, the wines are wondrous and the whisky list starts as cheap as you like and heads north to 40-year-old Glenfiddich. Choose a cigar from the walk-in humidors, sign a health risk declaration and settle back with a single malt.
