Barrio Chino

Mexican$$

The mood’s mellow, the music’s jumpin’, the food’s good and service top notch. And then there’s the margarita. It’s probably not the ‘real deal’ (we’re a long way from Mexico), but authenticity isn’t everything. The space is raw, large and open with a massive communal table, long bar and plenty of cosy booths. Food is snacky, from the ubiquitous guacamole to decent quesadilla, the special filled with roast pork belly, shredded Chinese cabbage, radish and jalapeno. Settle in and work through the crunchy taquitos (a Mexican take on the spring roll), soft tacos and tostados menu, with a shot of tequila on the side.
