Italian

Known for its authentic pizza, Beccofino is a local favourite with a busy crowd lining up for a seat at tables set with their trademark red chairs. There's a choice of seating in the modern interior or dimly lit terrace, but a no-bookings policy means you'll need to be prepared to wait at the well-stocked bar or outside with a Campari to hand until the fast-paced service turns over another table. The menu moves beyond the famed wood-fired pizzas into traditional modern Italian territory with roasted Hervey Bay scallops with fennel and orange or a perfectly simple insalata Caprese with ruby red heirloom tomatoes paired with creamy buffalo mozzarella and, (untraditionally) anchovies to add a kick. Pasta choices include a signature pappardelle with a rich duck and tomato ragu, or a pecorino cheese carbonara with bucatini. Enjoy the perfect burnt caramel budino or a smooth vanilla bean panna cotta with poached fruit and crushed amaretti biscuits to finish.
