Korean$$

With its Korean-cutesy logo and symbol-strewn menu (there’s a leaf icon for veg dishes), this little diner with white-washed boards and neat open kitchen is a bit of a haven on grimy old William Street. It’s also an oasis for anyone hankering for good Korean food (and drink – sake, soju, Korean beer, cocktails and soft-drinks). Bibimbap is the hero dish: marinated meat and veg on rice, with optional ‘upgrades’ such as hot stone bowl, ‘healthy’ rice (brown and wild rice mixed), egg, hot sauce, sides and soup. The rice crusts up deliciously. Bulgogi (marinated seared meat strips) is flavour central, too. And staff are super-friendly.
