Birdie Num Nums

Cafe

With tables big enough for spread newspapers and open laptops, room to manoeuvre prams, and a big, open courtyard with a sandpit, this former butcher's shop has got pluck. All-day breakfasts may include dukkah-spiced poached eggs on a rocket, mint and almond salad with baba ghanoush and wholemeal pita toast. The handful of lunch staples- such as a dry-aged yearling rump steak sandwich with caramelised onion and fat chips- is boosted by daily specials. Kids are, of course, lovingly catered to with ham 'n' cheese toast soldiers, the popular counter-side gingerbread folk and cupcakes with a technicolour swirl of butter icing.
