European

One of Fitzroy's favourite brunch spots, the Birdman is still flying high with its quirky aesthetic, great food and solid coffee. Sitting among the winged reticulated artist's models, milk bottles filled with flowers and hanging antique eggbeaters, patrons choose from a long and varied brunch menu - everything from Coco Pops to a pulled pork sandwich - order up a table-full of sophisticated share plates, or just have a coffee. It's organic Espresso Syndicate, from a Wega machine; a macchiato ($3) is rich and nutty, with a caramel aftertaste.
