Birdman Eating

European

There’s still a fizz of excitement around Birdman’s boutique brekkies. This Gertrude Street veteran makes breakfast the most important meal of the day with out-of-the-box dishes like black rice with coconut yoghurt and mango, and ricotta hotcakes with peanut butter ice-cream. Lunch plates, like slow-roasted lamb shoulder, and brussels sprouts roasted with garlic and lemon and dolloped with labna, are made to share. On Friday and Saturday nights, the cafe’s distressed mirrors reflect the glow from the '40s-style light fixtures and ceiling fans above, and diners peck at share-plates.
