Lurking in the basement of a grand old CBD building, Bluestone has a bluesy lounge feel. There's a more formal restaurant upstairs but downstairs is a dimly lit grotto, all flickering candlelight, gauzy curtains and chocolate-coloured chesterfields. With its cellar location, bluestone walls and spirit-laden bar shrouded in dim red light, it feels like a roaring '20s speakeasy. A hobo-chic crowd mixes readily with off-duty suits as they tuck into the extensive yet moderately priced cocktail list dotted with classics such as the Manhattan. The wine selection isn't too shabby either, and there are wood-fired pizzas for the peckish.
