Navigating the poster-style menu at this sweet lunch-crowd favourite is a bit like reading haiku; let it wash over you and at some point meaning emerges. Regulars are well-drilled; choose a soup, salad, curry or some value combination of two. Organic soups travel the globe and change daily. Salads include a mustard-seed-studded potato version with mayonnaise and a tofu, tomato and iceberg lettuce with dashi dressing. Curries come gravy-style with vegetables, chicken or beef atop sticky rice. If it’s traditional dishes you want, such as okonomiyaki or soba noodles, look to the fancier dinner menu, from 5pm.
