Brother Alec

Contemporary

What this small High Street shopfront lacks in glamour, it more than makes up for with super-friendly service. It also goes the extra yard with coffee, with a guest single origin (maybe a big Guatemalan) and a coffee special like the iced Alaskan. The house blend is organic and Fair trade, with a big caramelly finish, although a touch under-extracted when we visited. Popular with hipsters, families, and hipster families, it offers a simple menu that hits on the faves - huevos rancheros, BLATs and pulled pork - and throws some curveballs such as goat and feta sausage polenta cakes, and herbed beef mince on toast.
