Darren Powell is the world's fastest snowboarder. He's also the only landlord in Dalgety, population 75. And he serves a mean mixed grill. Hardly a surprise given Dalgety is in the heart of the Monaro High Plains, home of the Men From Snowy River. Lamb cutlets. Steak. Rissoles. Schnitzel. A couple of seafood options. That's the stuff of Buckley's Crossing. Good, honest tucker, served plain and simple in a fair dinkum, three-room bush pub. This is a hotel you come to for the atmosphere as much as the beer. There are few more true-blue places in the state to have a feed and an ale.
