Busshari is on the dogleg where Darlo Road morphs from dire to delightful. It's as pleasant a surprise as a Japanese prime minister serving out his full term. Despite an interior as dark as a Kings Cross strip-joint, Busshari ('Buddha's ash') remains classy, with jet-black tiles offset by dangling white paper lanterns. On the intelligently conceived menu an entree of roast duck impresses, cooked rare and served thinly sliced in the Japanese style. Then there are the superior gyoza and the serious sushi bar. Put yourself in chef Nobuyuki-san's fish-oiled hands and opt for his selection of copybook nigiri sushi. Elsewhere on the menu there's crowd-pleasing wagyu served sliced and sizzling with a choice of sauces and the obligatory teriyaki combinations. Finish with an unusually interesting (for a Japanese restaurant) dessert plate with a choice of three Nippon-styled sweet treats.
