At Cabinet, it's easy to forget you're ensconced in the heart of the CBD - unless you score a table on the balcony overlooking Swanston Street. Creative cocktails get people through the door. The Cue Josie Jo justifies a visit in itself, zinging with bison grass vodka, Spanish gin, gingerbread, lemon and pepper. Keep an eye out for drinks specials: on Mondays, for example, it's $10 martinis, and on Tuesdays happy hour lasts all day. A brief menu offers duck rice-paper rolls, empanadas and flatbreads with various toppings. A favourite meeting spot of politicos and city workers, Cabinet keeps things the right side of cosy.
