Cafe Amalia is a sophisticated modern bistro disguised as a local cafe. Owner Christian Janko and manager Jean-Noel Langlet (both ex-France Soir) express their knowledge in everything from the elegant decor to the list of daily specials. Sip pinot gris and vacillate between grilled watermelon and prosciutto salad that tastes of summer, or flaky, nuanced chicken and leek pie upon which reputations are built. Heartier appetites may fall to the wine-soaked richness of a rabbit risotto - just be sure to try the silken chocolate and banana tart. Wine and cheese nights on Thursdays and Fridays are irresistible. Much like the cafe itself.
