Cafe Buon Cibo

Vietnamese

Anyone who has ever declared Cabramatta and Marrickville to be the only suburbs in Sydney offering excellent pho is wrong: they’re forgetting this St Leonards secret. The name might suggest some kind of Italian tourist trap cafe and it might look like an ordinary station-side eatery, but there’s a Vietnamese family at the helm, and they know how to make great pho. Ignore the cafe standards and get the noodle soup with 24-hour brewed broth crowned with slices of raw beef, which cook in the soup while you eat, or pick up a paté-heavy banh mi thit. It’s ‘buon cibo’ (that’s, ‘good food’) in any language.
