Contemporary

This 40-something-year-old cafe and roastery is open all day, every day, and it's as comfy and cosy as your Spanish abuela's lounge room, should you actually have a Spanish granny. A pair of crisp churros will set you back the princely sum of $5, and there are also simple tapas (tortilla de patatas, jamon), fresh OJ and white-bread sambos. The macchiato ($3.50) is an old-school espresso shot with a respectable head of foam, and cappuccinos ($3.30) get a good dusting of chocolate powder. The flavour lingers, and so does the sense of a real cafe from another time. If you haven't ever been, then come to pay your respects.
