Other cities would kill for views like this. of ferries on blue water, a famous coathanger of a bridge, curvaceous Opera House and a mad neon-lit grin from Luna Park. The clever menu at this beautifully run, tourist-friendly bistro is just as fresh and breezy as its broad sweep of terrace, effortlessly combining well-sourced produce with multicultural flavour grenades such as chorizo, beetroot, roquefort and cabernet vinegar (not all at once). Start light, with grilled South Australian squid with spicy chorizo, kipfler potatoes and curls of zucchini, or a prawn cocktail deconstructed as a salad. Main courses dial up the drama, such as richly glazed duck confit with earthy, sweet beetroot and lentils, or Indian-spiced ocean trout done in the tandoor oven. Just when you thought you were done, along comes a downright delicious, in-the-glass cheesecake mousse with ginger crumble and strawberries.
