Contemporary

A shot of espresso, blacker than the waiter's spotless apron, arrives with a tiny biscuit alongside. The spoon gleams, the white cup shines and the coffee is thick and rich, coating the mouth with dark chocolate and tobacco notes. The only downside is the hotel pricing (espresso $4.50; creamy latte $5.50) but Single O's Hilton Harrar blend will have you bouncing off the glass walls ready for the most demanding meeting. It's half business, as suits pop in for coffee and a sandwich or wrap, and half leisure, as well-heeled tourists linger over scones with double cream and pots of loose-leaf tea.
