There are now five Chat Thais in town, yet you’ll still find a line of people outside the original, seven nights a week. It’s not without good reason. Every dish has a little somethin’ extra, whether it be caramelised tamarind relish dripping over fresh smoked fish spring rolls, pineapple chunks sweetening the massaman curry or the five spices on the wok-fried ‘emerald’ duck. The warehouse-style setting is mighty trendy, too. And just when you think things can’t get any sweeter, you find yourself choosing between 26 desserts with descriptions like sticky, stewed, glutinous, candied and infused.
