Malaysian$$

High in the shiny Westfield dining zone hides a fine Malaysian tea house. The look is deceptive, straight from an Asian movie set, and while street-eat inspired, the creatively composed (and named) menu is anything but slap-dash. Owner Simon Goh's 'sassy rolls' replicate a Malaysian classic - minced chicken and spices rolled in crisp beancurd skin. 'Duck secret' is almost half a bird, fillet and drumstick in a rich sauce full of subtle Nonya spicing. 'Oh dear fish' swims with eggplant, beans and okra in a densely complex curry gravy, yet the flavour of fresh barramundi still dominates. 'Missy mushroom' is an umami-laden stir-fry of five local mushrooms, with plenty of texture play. Rice is simmered with either coconut or chicken stock, and the roti are as crisp as a KL hawker stall's. Chilled durian mousse has just enough pungency, offset by sesame; and pandan sago is a real sugar hit. A great atmosphere and enthusiastic staff put everyone in the mood for love.
