Chris's Beacon Point Restaurant

Good Food hat15/20

Whatever the weather, the hillside location adds drama to the Chris's experience. Full-length windows showcase panoramic views of forest and ocean by day and swaying spotlit gums by night. The spectacle is more than matched by knowledgeable service and food that delights at every course. Chris's Greek heritage is evident, but not constraining. Entrees include tender octopus, first braised in red wine then char-grilled and served with a rocket, apple, beetroot and feta salad. For mains, Bannockburn chicken reaches new heights when matched with a roulade of prosciutto and mushroom duxelles. Earthy rabbit stifado comes wrapped in vine leaves, filled with chicken, leek, bacon, prunes and pistachio and finished with a fragrant cinnamon sauce. Desserts always include luscious house-made ice-cream with faithful Greek flavours, such as mastic or honey. More tempting still is the chocolate mousse, studded with liqueur-soaked cherries.
