Cocoro Japanese Pottery & Cafe

Step into the serenity of Cocoro. The tiny, brightly lit dining room is lined with delicate Japanese pottery, suggesting a traditional meal is in the offing, until you're confounded by entrees such as edamame served out of the pod in a chilled vinaigrette, or shishamo- little sun-dried fish stuffed with anchovy eggs, grilled whole and served with sea salt. Even the standards have an engaging twist: teriyaki chicken comes deep-fried with a sweet mayo. More conventional dishes include sweet swordfish fillets glistening in a mirin and soy marinade and superbly fresh sashimi. Deferential service and a decent sake list seal a very good deal.
