Cornershop

Modern Australian$$

Cornershop has all corners covered, from delightful decor (pistachio-green pressed-metal counter and industrial wire light fittings) through to drinks, including excellent coffee and a well-chosen wine and beer list. The menu ranges round the world: breakfasts include tasty bubble and squeak (potato, onion, cabbage and cauliflower) with poached eggs and HP sauce; or rich, tomatoey Spanish braised beans with smoky chorizo. Lunch or dinner might be chunky parmesan-sprinkled meatballs with Turkish bread or a meltingly tender slow-roasted lamb, beautifully paired with cracked wheat, pomegranate, almonds, yoghurt and tahini.
