From the house-bottled preserves to the beehives on the roof, this deliciously sustainable, neighbourly cafe is acting local, thinking global. Run by former Mecca hand James Grant and his wife Alex Elliot-Howery, there's a lot to love and a lot to take in. The food philosophy of 'like what we eat at home' highlights local suppliers, and there's a scheme by which customers can swap their homegrown produce for other produce, coffee or a meal. The well-crafted Mecca Dark Horse blend oozes subtle fruit flavours through a flat white ($3.50), while the bright, zesty filter coffee and espresso are brewed from seasonal single origin beans.
