Contemporary

The industrial neighbourhood is part of the charm of this noisy loft cafe, suspended above a warehouse cluttered with cartons of coffee and centred around a Diedrich roaster, which is all business. Boys in high-viz shirts unashamedly order their Ethiopian Organic next to suits possessively cradling ristretto. Food is only simple here (sandwiches, wraps, Brasserie Bread toast), but love of coffee is the great leveller, and the house blend piccolo latte ($3) is rich-toned, velvety smooth and thick-textured. Come on Saturdays for free tastings of their five different blends and a single origin - with the roaster going, you'll smell the place way before you see it.
