The brothers Christensen, Matt and Benn, did something brave and unusual in opening their aptly named eating house, which describes itself with good reason and good cheer as 'boisterous'. They took a punt on the emerging restaurant district of the Gabba and invited us to share. Literally. Crosstown has pulled back some from its early experiment with shared plates but the friendly, sharing spirit and 'boisterous' cheer are stronger than ever. The share plates are formally corralled into the entree section now, with sticky sweet tender pork ribs and roasted garlic toast with sardines always a fave. And what the hell? Nobody will think any less of your table if you order a whole mess of the golden crispy schnitzel, or perfectly pink rump fillet to share with the roast pumpkin and beetroot salad. And on those rare occasions when they bring back the turkey meatballs, just try keeping them to yourself.
