De Clieu

Contemporary$$

Hipster corner, De Clieu’s open-window-seats and pavement tables are plastered with speciality coffee geeks and brunch freaks. Inside, there’s communal- and bar-seating, and a shiny coffee machine driving the place. The tightly tuned menu might include beetroot-cured salmon with truffled cauliflower puree and polenta chips, or miso and broad bean fritters with coconut Stilton mousse, rhubarb and poached egg. Or, try a super salad of quinoa, lentils, poached cumquat, asparagus and walnuts. De Clieu may’ve changed ownership (in 2013), but it remains a smooth, sophisticated operator.
