Deans Diner

Contemporary

Sometimes all you want is a good old fashioned burger - nothin’ fancy - just a soft sesame-seed bun, chunky beef patty, oozy cheese and some fresh salad. If that’s what you’re after, Deans delivers in spades. With gumball machines at the entrance and a wall crowded with photos of visiting celebs, the small shop harks back to the days when milk bars ruled the ’hood. Burgers are named after bands and musicians - Cat Stevens features haloumi; Blue Hawaii stars pineapple. The chips come wrapped in white paper; they’re crunchy, tongue-blisteringly hot and doused, if you so desire, in the yellow-tinged mystery that is chicken salt.
