Demitri's Feast

Greek$$

Feasting at Demitri's is good for the soul. It's food from a rich culture, prepared simply and with love, and served with a generous dash of local-style warmth. You might even be serenaded by a staff chorus- so happy they sing; what's not to love? A blackboard lists the day's feast, maybe a robust moussaka smothered in creamy bechamel or a salad of nutty chickpeas, roasted cauliflower and tart, plump barberries. For breakfast, the feta and herb omelette, crowned with roasted cherry tomatoes, is popular. The Greeks like it sweet, too: the melomakarona (walnut biscuits) are spicy, crumbly and delicious, the perfect end to the perfect feast.
