Dench Bakers

European$$

The low-down on Dench has spread to Melbourne's farthest reaches. The place is packed with local parents holding prams and/or puppies (outside), while lycra-clad road warriors exchange how-do glances with business folk over their hefty panini or generous vego breakfast spread. A fuzzy-faced hipster might compare notes with his mum about a French toast brioche heaped with vanilla labna and stewed apple. The outrageous popularity of the place hasn't led to a here's-your-bill-now-scram ethos, though, and how the friendly staff keep their heads amid the buzz is a wonder. As, of course, are the freshly baked breads to grab before you go.
