Thai

Secreted away in the sleepy country town of Cooroy, Dhom's is a rare find. This tiny, modern BYO Thai restaurant embellished with orchids and tiffin tins serves up exceptional food with everything made in-house. Thai-born Chittraporn 'Dhom' Chotipimai and partner Spencer Willmott delve deeply into Thai tradition and culture and communicate their learnings through food. Pla muek ping (seared local baby squid), is made to be dipped in homemade sweet chilli sauce, a version far removed from commercial varieties. Gang bpa neua, also known as jungle curry beef, is a stock-based curry, bright with the zing of wild ginger. Duck is roasted to exquisite tenderness, served in bite-size pieces with crisp snow peas, Asian greens, coriander and chilli. Thai desserts are often a disappointment but here, chewy, sticky rice and coconut ice-cream is unforgettable. And so is Dhom's so book ahead to avoid disappointment.
