Thai

Tiny Dhoms with its traditional Thai food and backdrop of fresh orchids, tiffin boxes and teapots is a secret no more. Freshness and bursts of intense flavour are exemplified in the unmissable pad prik gaeng. Pods of green peppercorns pop, giving an earthy assertiveness to free-range chicken, stir-fried in red curry paste with Asian greens picked that day. A skilled version of the classic pad Thai koong with basil, chilli and garlic woven through noodles and plump tiger prawns shows attention to balance, and a dish of snowpeas, bok choy, broccoli, bean shoots and gai lan is a vibrant accompaniment. Wood ear mushrooms in vegetarian spring rolls, enhanced with the judicious use of yellow plums in a sauce, is a lively interpretation of an often mundane entree, as are puffy crescents filled with tender organic beef, and skewers of free-range pork neck with a spicy tamarind-chilli sauce. It's hard not to be swayed by coconut ice-cream - worth the visit alone.
