Stretch your stomach without stretching your wallet at this Ethiopian restaurant. There’s a space for coffee ceremonies, and the bright orange walls add cheer to the procession of communal dishes in rustic claypots. Baskets of rolled-up injera (spongy fermented flatbread) accompany most dishes; lay a piece flat on your plate, spoon on comforting, hearty lamb stew or smoky-sweet caramelised beef strips, and eat the lot with your fingers. Berbere spice adds a deep, earthy note to beef stew, the injera absorbing flavour while your soul sucks up nourishment. It’s more grounding than a yoga retreat, and there’s not a poser in sight.
