Dockyard Hotel

13.5/20

Contemporary$$

Sitting in a strip of five restaurants, the Dockyard feels more like an eatery with a great drinks list than a pub, and the deck overlooking Newcastle's working harbour is the perfect place to share its tapas plates. While the haloumi and vegetable skewers were disappointing, the lime and black pepper squid is cooked perfectly. The biggest surprise comes in the form of garlic and basil butter prawns. Served in a small cob loaf, they look like they belong in the '70s but the flavours work so well together you won't want to share the creamy, butter-soaked bread.
